12. Naming Conventions

Naming Conventions

A lot of our products follow standardized naming conventions to help you quickly identify and find exactly what you need. This guide explains how our product names are structured for crossbows, archery bows, and their replacement parts.

Crossbow Naming Convention

Most crossbows follow the pattern: MK-XB[number][colour], MK-TCS[number][colour], or MK-[number][colour].

  • MK = Man Kung (manufacturer)
  • XB = Crossbow
  • TCS = A specific range pistol crossbow models
  • Number = Model identifier
  • Colour code = BK (Black), G (Green), FC (Forest Camouflage), GODC (Light Camouflage)

Example: MK-XB21GODC → Man Kung Crossbow model 21 in light camouflage

Archery Bow Naming Convention

Archery bows typically follow: MK-CB[number][colour], MK-RB[number][colour], or MK-NCB[number][colour].

  • MK = Man Kung
  • CB = Compound Bow
  • RB = Recurve Bow
  • NCB = New Compound Bow
  • Number = Model identifier (may include letters, such as CBA7FC, CBK1-O, or CBA5BK)
  • Colour code = BK (Black), G (Green), FC (Forest Camouflage), GODC (Light Camouflage). Some models have additional options like silver, orange, blue, or pink for specific models

Example: MK-CBA5BK → Man Kung Compound Bow model A5 in black

Strings & Cable Sets

Finding replacement strings and cables is straightforward when you know your bow model. Remove the colour code from your model name, then apply these rules:

Strings

Look at the pattern of the naming convention and add an S on the indicated places:

  • Crossbow MK-XB21 → String MK-XBS21
  • Crossbow MK-TCS1 → String MK-TCS1S
  • Crossbow MK-180 → String MK-180S
  • Archery bow MK-CB55B → String MK-CBS55

Cables

For cables, follow the same steps as for a string, but add a C instead:

  • MK-XB70 → Cable MK-XBC70
  • MK-300 → Cable MK-300C
  • MK-CBA5 → Cable MK-CBCA5
